ARCOPHARMA is a Swiss company founded in 1980. The Company's
background however, dates back to 1954, when ARCOPHARMA's predecessor
ARCO S.A., a reputable manufacturer of generic drugs, was founded
in Lugano. In its early days, ARCOPHARMA created a scientific
advisory board to guide the implementation of innovative research
projects. Thereafter, the Company became increasingly involved
in the research of natural substances which could help trigger
the human body's own defense mechanism.
The first major project took several years of intensive research
and resulted in a product, now trademarked worldwide as 'EXSATIVA'.
Its active ingredients are green oat extracts ( SWISS OATS A111
™ ) and nettle extracts, for which patents are pending internationally.
Although EXSATIVA was originally developed as an anti-stress dietary
supplement, its health-furthering properties proved to be so significant,
that it was brought through all development stages of a regular
pharmaceutical product. Furthermore, it has demonstrated substantial
effects as an enhancer of desire, performance and sensation. In
1987 EXSATI\/A was successfully launched in the U.S.A. and is
currently being introduced in a number of other countries.
Another research, started in the early 1990's resulted in a new
dietary product (based on bean sprouts), which received the brand
name SOYDIET® Mung 21.
The coming decade marking the advent of the 21st century brings
new challenges to ARCOPHARMA. Our research activities will continue
to combine space age technology with the ancient tradition of
natural medicine, in order to provide people with pure biological
remedies, without the harmful side effects of synthetic drugs.
